Why the hell would anyone listen? There is only one reason: because they want to listen. And why would you want to listen. This is why: in 1943 the sociologist Abraham Maslow discovered the hierarchy of needs.This is a pyramid that arranges the necessity of the things in our life. It is useful to have a good look at it and understand it, if you want to know what people find important and what they want to listen to.

Organic reason: food, shelter, sex. Safety reason: security and protection. Social reason: contact, togetherness, belonging. Recognition: self-esteem, self-worth, status, awe, power. Self-realisation: fulfilment, contentment, happiness.
