Hoe kan je uit het nieuws blijven

The essence is that you know what is news, how it works and what the specific characteristics are. We are overwhelmed by a wave of news every minute of the day, but a lot of times we are unable to identify them in advance.

Ten Laws of the News:

  1. Is it new? Is it happening now? Is it unknown? Is it happening for the first time?

  2. Is there a fight? Is there confrontation? Is there violence involved? Is there war?

  3. Is it a surprise? Is there anything unusual involved? Is it something strange or weird?

  4. Is there drama? Is it a tragedy, a great loss or a disaster?

  5. Are there any significant consequences? The greater the impact, the greater the importance. The more people involved, the more interesting. Does it affect our region, our country, the world or the environment?

  6. Is it near? The closer the more important. The more own people involved, the more interesting.

  7. Is someone famous involved? Familiar is fascinating. Fame sells.

  8. Is identification possible? Can you relate it to yourself? Is it recognizable? Can you compare it to something of your own?

  9. Is there outrage? Does it go against a sense of fairness or justice? Is it morally wrong?

  10. Is there an image? Is there a video, photo or other image available? Can you show it somehow?
