According to a study at the University of London into conviction and imagination, a number of patients with knee problems were hospitalized in order to implant them with a new artificial knee. A number of those patients were cut open and neatly sewn shut without placing the prosthesis, and a number of others were actually helped. After two months, the swelling and pain had decreased significantly in both the effective and the non-operated patients and the use of the knee had measurably improved. In the case of the non-operated, this progress can only be attributed to conviction and imagination. This useful technique, known in science as the placebo effect, is applicable to other areas of life as well. Faith and conviction are an essential part of realization and result. Self-confidence and self-esteem are the foundation of significant change and progress.
