The more important the goal is, the greater the urge to accomplish it. Finishing pressure is the technical term. The more important the assignment is, the greater the urge for correction and control, or feedback, like it is called. Feedback is a term stemming from electronics. It is part of the output that is returned as input to the source. Without feedback there is no correction, without correction there is no direction, without direction there is no goal. Feedback consists of information, steering and redirection but also of: affirmation, nutrition and praise. Naming the value of the effort contributes to its boost. Boosting the effort makes it easier to finish.
