What do you say in a tragic situation?

What do you say when someone dies. Most people flee and avoid the situation; don't know what to say or say absolutely wrong. One moment that is already fragile, painful and devastating of itself, without anyone sprinkle salt into the wound and stir it. Therefore never say: "It was a good life and many die much younger." "There is a reason for everything." "You can have another child if you want." 'I know how you feel.' "You're in front and you have to get through." "If was for the best.’’Do say: "I wish I knew what to say, but know that I empathize with you." "I can't imagine what you're going through right now, but if there's anything I can do for you, say it." ‘'My sincere condolences.' "I'm here for you if you want to talk." Don't ask someone to deny or change their feelings. Acknowledge the loss. Don't try to rationalize or explain. Don't minimize. Don't set a time limit on grief. Be available. Offer to do things.
