Hoe kan je flexibel zijn

What it is: being able to adjust times, tasks and responsibilities according to demand and circumstances. How you do it: switching, changing style and approach in change. To be able to turn around planning and working methods. Quickly adopt new methods. In practice: in 1975 Mr. Ortega had the idea of making clothes in Spain that looked like designer clothes but were only much cheaper. He already had a name for his business: Zorba. He didn't have to think long about it because Zorba the Greek was his favourite film of all time. Unfortunately, things went wrong as soon as they came to attach the letters to the facade. The owner of a bar a few blocks away came to say that it might not have been a good idea to call it that because his bar was already called that. Because the letters had already been bought and Ortega didn't have much money, he decided to look for something with the letters that were there, or at least with as few new letters as possible. Also because the A was the cheapest letter, he soon found Zara. That would have cost him one extra letter. In the 1980s he expanded his first business with branches in the rest of the country and Europe. Until then most shops had two seasons, winter and summer, but Ortega abolished them. As soon as his designers collective had made something new, he threw it on the shelves. His team was able to respond flexibly to trends and create instant fashion. In this way, it was also worthwhile to drop in at any time of the year. And that's what the customers did. By 2014, Zara had more than 2,000 branches around the world and a turnover of 12.7 billion euros.
